Dr Graham Hunter
PhD, Mining Engineering, University of Nottingham, UK
As a founding member of 3D Laser Mapping Ltd, Graham has over 15 years experience in the LiDAR industry, leading the development, sales and marketing of airborne and terrestrial laser mapping systems. He was also responsible for starting the distribution of Riegl laser instruments in the UK, with 3D Laser Mapping Ltd. the premier distributor. Graham has supplied software, training, consulting and data processing services to most UK airborne LiDAR operators. Graham also has over 12 years experience in the mining industry, working as a regional manager and as a mining engineer for Maptek and as a mining engineer for Rio Tinto (Rossing Uranium).
Director of Operations
After a double major Bachelor degree in International Business and Geography/Geology, Chris spent the first half of his GIS based business career with Intergraph Corporation in the US. While he worked across many different verticals such as transportation, civil engineering, surveying, utilities, oil and gas, his GIS expertise was mostly used in the public safety industry. Joining a small team of totally dedicated “mapcentric” public safety industry professionals, he helped build Intergraph Public Safety from a team of around 30 to a market leading team of 300, personally leading teams in disciplines such as GIS, training and implementation, to include specialist R&D, consulting and support. He spent much of this time as Director of Technical Operations.
Having spent many years with Intergraph as Technical Director, and more as VP of Operations & Customer Satisfaction with Tiburon, Chris brings significant leadership experience and expertise in SME expansion and growth.
Chris has a strong core GIS technical ability, and so when returning to the UK with his family worked for the global leader in GIS, Esri UK, and helped end users and partners establish cloud based solutions for various industries and applications on spatial platforms.
Sales and Marketing Director
MSc Engineering and Management, Sheffield Hallam University, UK
David joined 3D Laser Mapping following 12 years of experience in the fields of optical instrumentation and software solutions for industrial environments.
He has previously held board level positions for companies in the Americas and Asia Pacific region and most recently spent time as a Sales and Marketing Director for a UK based company before joining 3DLM.
Business Development Director
In his native Finland, Petri managed an airborne hyperspectral product line, overseeing every aspect including R&D, production, test flights, support, marketing and sales. He has also spent time UAV-policymaking with the Finnish CAA on the Finnish Aeronautical Association Air Sport Commission mandate. Most recently, Petri has shifted his focus to business development, networking and sales and can be found on the road (and in the air) visiting clients around the globe.
Product Manager – ROBIN
MSc Environmental Science, University of Latvia, Latvia
Liene has almost 10 years’ experience in the Geospatial industry and has been working with 3DLM since 2014, originally as a LiDAR Systems Engineer in our South African office. She brings a great level of knowledge of applying mobile mapping technology to a wide range of applications, including project delivery and support.
Liene’s expertise with mobile and airborne projects has led to her being tasked with managing the development and launch of ROBIN – the World’s First Universal Mobile Mapping System.
With extensive experience in LiDAR and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Liene brings great product management skills to help progress 3DLM’s mobile mapping category.
Technical Sales Manager
MSc Petroleum Geoscience, Royal Holloway University of London, UK
Madeleine worked in Australia for 3 years as a Geologist using geospatial datasets in a gold exploration and mining setting. Her MSc project used aerial LiDAR data to structurally analyse the Matano Fault in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Madeleine joined 3D Laser Mapping in February 2017 and is a technical member of the sales team.
Client Engagement Manager
MSc Quality Management for Forestry Properties, Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania
Before moving to the UK, Dana was involved in the Land Use/Cover Area frame statistical Survey (LUCAS) which is a project spanning across Europe involving regular surveys to gather information on land use. As well as working as a land surveyor, Dana has experience with SLAM technology. Dana has joined 3D Laser Mapping within the sales team to offer pre-sales support and training.
Pre Sales Engineer – Monitoring

Daniel joined 3D Laser Mapping in August 2017 as a technical member of the sales team. A recent graduate of Keele University, Daniel completed his masters with a specialism in structural geology. Daniel is particularly interested in the relationship between geology and monitoring. While at university, he won the Exley Prize for his undergraduate dissertation.

Dr Neil Slatcher
Research and Development Manager
PhD Volcanology and Geohazards, Lancaster University, UK
Neil is a PhD graduate with a broad knowledge of remote sensing and monitoring technologies. He specialises in the application of laser scanning to slope stability and geotechnical analysis with a particular interest in sensor integration. A background in volcanology has led to a deep understanding of the technical challenges faced when using laser scanners in the field, an experience he uses to drive the continued development of 3D Laser Mapping’s monitoring solutions.
Dr Chris Cox
PhD, Environmental Engineering, University of Nottingham, UK
Chris has over 9 years’ experience in the LiDAR industry, over 7 years experience in the 3D modelling and animation industry and 3 years of experience in the GIS industry. He was awarded a PhD in 2003 by the University of Nottingham for his thesis entitled ‘The Use of Computer Graphics for Visual Impact Assessment’. Chris joined the company in 2005 and specialises in mobile mapping and airborne LiDAR R&D as well as software support and training.
Dr Cheryl Smith

Having spent 3 years as a post-doctoral research assistant, Cheryl enjoyed a long career with Rotadata, helping to produce software solutions for the aerospace and power generation industries for over 18 years.
A specialist in developing software which interfaces with sensor systems, Cheryl joined 3DLM in November 2016 and works to develop and implement data processing algorithms.
Vinesh joined the company in 2015 with over 2 years industry experience. Whilst studying, his main focus was object orientated programming, with design as his key skill. His professional expertise lies in providing integrated solutions for Hardware monitoring devices with standalone software, making him the perfect fit for 3D Laser Mapping
Alex graduated in 2013 and joined the 3D Laser Mapping team in June 2017. Since graduating Alex has worked in the pharmaceutical industry, building software for managing clinical trials.
Sajeel joined our busy R&D team in February 2017 after completing his master’s degree. His final year project involved classifying complex activities in real time using an IMU. Sajeel enjoys problem-solving and the rapid pace of R&D development, which makes him a great fit for the 3DLM team and our ever evolving technology.
Martin joined the R&D team in August 2017, shortly after graduating. His dissertation project focused on developing a computer music analysis system, detecting notes in real-time. Martin’s interests include data processing and HCI – making intuitive, user friendly applications.
Dr Hao (Julia) Jing

Julia joined 3D Laser Mapping Ltd as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project in collaboration with the University of Nottingham after completing her PhD in 2015 on the topic of collaborative indoor positioning for multi-sensor and multi-user systems. With a background in surveying and broad knowledge in navigation and positioning in difficult environments, she is working on improving the performance and reliability of mobile mapping systems.

Dr Nick Harrop

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Near Surface Geophysics
Nick has over 15 years’ experience in the Geospatial industry, with previous roles ranging from Project Geophysicist to Technical Director of a services company specialising in oil and gas exploration, mining, corridor mapping and research.
Nick brings a great amount of experience delivering airborne and mobile projects and can most often be seen in the Heathrow Airport departure lounge.
Product Specialist – Terrestrial Laser Scanners (TLS) & Software
Joe has worked in the GIS and surveying industries since 2004, and has been working with LiDAR technologies since 2005. His background is in Earth Sciences, graduating from Brunel University in 2003 with a First Class (Hons) Bachelor’s degree. Joe joined 3D Laser Mapping Ltd in 2005 and provides technical support for laser scanner hardware and software.
MSc Product Innovation, Aston University, UK
Shaun’s background is in Design Engineering, holding a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Product Design Innovation and was also team manager of Aston University’s award winning Shell Eco Marathon project. Shaun joined 3D Laser Mapping in July 2012 and now manages the hardware side of the business, working on the development of new products alongside producing parts to order.

Valdis studied Geodesy for 5 years at Riga Technical University in Lativa, before starting his career in the Geospatial Industry. He has gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in LiDAR, Remote Sensing, Geomatics and Photogrammetry, over the course of his 20 years working within Geospatial roles. Since joining 3D Laser Mapping in 2013, Valdis has quickly become a valued and trusted member of the Mobile Mapping team.

Joanna joined 3D Laser Mapping in June 2015. After studying a degree in Surveying and Cartography in Poland, Joanna spent a year in Norway studying her master’s degree in Geomatics. Here she worked on applications of laser scanning in cultural heritage, focussing on the accurate modelling of the Nidaros cathedral. She also studied Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformation and her main work experience lies in surveying. Whilst a student Joanna is passionate about new technology and accurate visualisations of reality.
LiDAR Systems Engineer
MSc Earth Observation & Geoinformation Management from the University of Edinburgh, UK
Ivona joins 3DLM fresh from the University of Edinburgh where she wrote her dissertation on the use of UAVs for thermal building inspections. During this time she also worked to develop a thermal and RGB co-aligned camera system for UAV use and has been involved in field works to collect and process data to assist with the creation of DEMs/ 3D thermal models of buildings.

Working across the accounts and sales departments, Larissa provides the business with critical intelligence reports to improve our decision making capabilities, in addition to overseeing the management accounts function.
