3D Laser Mapping has been invited to demonstrate the benefits of laser scanning for collision investigation by the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators (ITAI)

3D Laser Mapping has been supplying laser scanning technology to UK police forces over ten years and has worked with collision investigation units since 2009. We pride ourselves in offering the very best technical support and training to each force to ensure they get the very best out of this technology.

We run a police-specific website that showcases the capabilities of laser scanning for collision investigation , and a dedicated user portal containing a forum to discuss applications and uses, a technical knowledge base for support and training videos and documentation. We also host regular monthly training courses which allow collision investigators to keep on-top of their knowledge and skills.

We understand the importance of a speedy survey, and how little room for error there is when capturing a road-traffic accident. Following many field trials and testing, the RIEGL V-Line laser scanners have been proven to be the perfect solution for collision investigation. 15 police forces operate 32 RIEGL VZ-400 laser scanning units today.

The Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators (ITAI) is hosting a workshop on 2nd April at the Heritage Motor Centre. 3D Laser Mapping has been invited to talk about the capabilities of laser scanning, and demonstrate the brand new RIEGL VZ-400i laser scanner. This technology and expertise is to be demonstrated further, at the ‘Scene Surveying and the Import of Plans into Computer Programs’ workshop, this April.

The ITAI will set up a fictitious accident scene which can then be surveyed using the new RIEGL VZ-400i. Later that day the data captured will be imported into RiSOLVE software and one of our Technical Specialists will demonstrate how this is done and what you can do with the software. RiSOLVE software was released in 2014 by RIEGL following requests for a software application that was specifically designed for collision and forensic investigation workflows. It is now widely used by police forces across the UK.

Details and registration info for the ITAI Workshop can be found on the ITAI website.

We hope to see you there!
