LaserWin

LaserWin provides a convenient way for configuring Riegl's laser distance and level meters via a user-friendly windows-based interface. LaserWin assists the user in setting up the instrument, in acquiring data for on-line display or for data logging, and in analysing the data output for the purpose of initial setup or debugging.

Overview

Riegl's laser distance and level meters offer different measurement modes and numerous parameters for optimising the measurement characteristics for various applications. Low-level configuration is based on a set of serial commands well documented in the user's manual but requires some programming skills to make optimum use of all the instrument's features. LaserWin provides a convenient graphical interface to read the current configuration completely, to save these settings, and to change them on request. As LaserWin allows communication not only via the standard serial interface but also via a TCP/IP interface it enables remote configuration and data retrieval also via the intranet/internet.

Key Features

  • The large character display for measurement data allows measurement data to be easily read.
  • The built-in diagram feature ('Chart' windows) enables measurement data sequences to be dis-played graphically, e.g., over time. These windows are fully configurable (title, axis).
  • The flexible processor concept with IPUs (Input Processing Units) allows to execute calculations based on measurement data, e.g., unit conversion or optional speed calculation.
  • Measurement data can be logged to an ASCII logfile or exported to a CSV file (comma separated values) for post-processing tasks.
  • A built-in terminal mode allows low level access to all instrument functions. In terminal mode all commands sent to the instrument are displayed for better understanding of the communication or for debugging.
