Forestry

The flexibility, ruggedness and portability of the Riegl rangefinders and distancemeters lends themselves well to forestry applications.

Ground Based

Mounted onto a portable frame, an LD90 (together with a small computer and battery) can be used to determine forest canopy structure whilst walking through the forest.

 

Crane Based

Three-dimensional observations of the forest canopy structure can be undertaken using an LD90 mounted onto a tower crane.

 

Airborne Based

An LD90 mounted onto an aircraft allows for the biomass of a forest to be estimated.
