Overview
The automatic alignment software, GPSalign, utilises the GPS information from multiple laser scans as a starting point to align the scans together (using Innovmetric PolyWorks), and then generates surfaces from the scan data to find matching, overlapping geometric features. The final product is a composite, geo-referenced point cloud, ready for post-processing. The software is designed to be simple to operate - it takes four clicks to record the GPS information, import the scan and start the best-fit alignment. This near-real time data alignment allows the operator to examine the quality of the data in the field, and rectify any missed areas.
