Architectural & Building Survey Applications

Laser scanning is being used widely for the capture of 3D data for use by architects. Our laser scanners have a wide field of view, with high accuracy and the ability to combine high resolution digital colour photography with the scan data, making them ideal for this application.

Overview

Transfering laser data from point clouds to CAD vector, virtual models or rectified ortho photographs has, until recently, been a challenge. Through our partnership with 3D Veritas and improvements to other software solutions, we can now offer some of the most advanced tools for creating and delivering data for architectural applications. Recent software developments now allow for the LPM range of instruments to collect horizontal or vertical sections within an environment, allowing for the rapid generation of building floorplan surveys.

Suggested Scanners

The Riegl LMS-Z420i, Z390, Z210i and Z210ii are typically used for architecural and building survey applications.

Typical Projects

Typical projects include the provision of data for visualisation, as built information on buildings and structures to provide a basis for subsequent design or for the checking of design against constructed. Using PolyWorks software, the data can be used to check dimensional elements of buildings and structures and for the monitoring of building or structural deformation.
