NEW RIEGL VZ-400i

The RIEGL VZ-400i is a 3D Laser Scanning System which combines an innovative new processing architecture, internet connectivity, and a suite of MEMS sensors with RIEGL’s latest Laser Scanning Engine technology.

This real-time data flow is enabled through dual processing platforms: a dedicated processing system for data acquisition, waveform processing and system operations, and a second processing platform which enables real-time data registration, georeferencing, filtering and analysis to be executed simultane-ously. The VZ-400i harnesses this power by streaming it in real-time via the integrated 3G/4G/LTE modem, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet communications hardware.

With its integrated gyroscope, accelerometer, compass and barometer, the VZ-400i’s 1200kHz pulse repetition rate can be fully utilized in nearly any environment and orientation. The system enables an incredible range of flexibility by providing support for numerous external peripherals and accessories via its integrated USB Ports and stable mounting points.

The V-Line 3D Terrestrial Laser Scanner RIEGL VZ-400 provides high speed, non-contact data acquisition using a narrow infrared laser beam and a fast scanning mechanism. High-accuracy laser ranging is based upon RIEGL’s unique echo digitization and online waveform processing, which allows achieving superior measurement capability even under adverse atmospheric conditions and the evaluation of multiple target echoes. RIEGL VZ-2000

The V-Line® 3D Laser Scanner RIEGL VZ-2000 is characterized by an extremely high measurement rate offering high accuracy data acquisition up to 400,000 measurements/sec and up to 240 scan lines/sec. The scanner further offers exceptional long range measurement performance of more than 2,000 m to natural surfaces while still maintaining completely eye safe operation (Laser Class 1).

RIEGL´s unique V-Line technology, based on echo digitization, online waveform processing, and multiple-time-around processing is the key to enabling such high speed, long range, high accuracy measurements even in poor visibility and demanding multi target situations caused by dust, haze, rain, snow, etc.

This 3D VZ-Line Laser Scanner offers superior and unrivalled long range measurement performance of up to 4000 m reflectorlessly while still maintaining completely eye safe operation (Laser Class 1).

RIEGL VZ-6000

The new high speed, high resolution terrestrial 3D Laser Scanner VZ-6000 offers an extremely long measurement range of more than 6000 m for topographic (static) applications. Being the Laser Class 3B companion to the VZ-4000, it is, due to its laser wavelength, exceptionally well suited for measuring snowy and icy terrain in glacier mapping and monitoring applications in mountainous regions.

The RIEGL VZ-6000 is compatible with the well-proven RIEGL software package RiSCAN PRO for terrestrial laser scanning, RIEGL's interface library RiVLiB, as well as the workflow-optimizing software packages RiMONITOR and RiMINING. Mobile Laser Scanning

Both RIEGL 2D and 3D laser scanners are ideally suited for mobile mapping applications. In order to register scan data acquired from moving platforms, such as boats, trains, road and off-road vehicles, the laser scanner is supplemented by position and attitude sensors, for example GPS (Global Positioning System) and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit).

All RIEGL scanners are rugged and fully portable instruments, tested under strict conditions for a reliable performance even under highly demanding environmental conditions.

RIEGL VQ-450

The V-Line "Full Circle" laser scanner RIEGL VQ-450 is a very high speed, non-contact profile measuring system using a narrow infrared laser beam and a fast line scanning mechanism, enabling full 360 degree beam deflection without any gaps. It is characterized by a Laser Pulse Repetition Rate (PRR) of up to 550 kHz and a scanning rate of up to 200 lines per second. The RIEGL VQ-250 is a compact and lightweight scanner, mountable in any orientation and even under limited space conditions on land based vehicles, tunnel measuring devices, watercrafts, etc. The instrument needs only one power supply and provides discrete line scan data, directly stored on a computer system, via the integrated LAN-TCP/IP interface. Airborne Laser Scanning

Airborne laser scanning is a rapid, highly accurate and efficient method of capturing 3D data of large areas, such as agricultural or forestry sites, urban areas, industrial plants, etc.

RIEGL airborne laser scanners make use of the latest state-of-the-art laser and signal processing technology. They are exceptionally compact, lightweight and cost effective, and are designed to meet the most challenging requirements in airborne surveying.

RIEGL LMS-Q1560

The high performance, fully integrated long-range airborne laser scanner system RIEGL LMS-Q1560 is a cutting-edge tool for a variety of airborne surveying missions. The two channel scanner makes use of powerful laser sources, Multiple-Time-Around (MTA) processing, echo digitization and waveform analysis. That allows operation at varying flight altitudes and is therefore ideally suited for aerial survey of ultra wide areas as well as of complex urban environments.

The RIEGL LMS-Q1560 can be operated at a maximum pulse repetition rate of 800 kHz providing an effective measurement rate of 530,000 measurements on the ground, and operates at an altitude of up to 15,500 ft. Usually occurring range ambiguities at this measurement rate are automatically resolved by RIEGL’s multiple time around processing software RiMTA, handling more than 10 pulses in the air simultaneously. This enables the user to do effective flight planning even for difficult terrain, reducing the flying time significantly. The system allows the user to plan safe flights with sufficient clearance to terrain.

The RIEGL LMS-Q1560 comes with a unique and innovative forward/backward looking capability. This enables capturing data from multiple angles more effectively and more accurately at high point density, along with a 60 degree field of view (FOV).

RIEGL LMS-Q780

The RIEGL® LMS-Q780 long-range airborne laser scanner makes use of a powerful laser source, multiple-time-around (MTA) processing, and digital full waveform analysis. This combination allows the operation at varying flight altitudes and is therefore ideally suited for aerial survey of complex terrain.

Unique features of this instrument include the automated resolution of range ambiguities, typically occurring at large measurement ranges and high repetition rates. The effect of range ambiguities appearing in airborne laser scanning is known as “multiple-time-around” or “multiple-pulses-in-the-air. RIEGL’s new generation of airborne laser scanners overcome this limitation by multiple-time-around (MTA) processing.

The RIEGL LMS-Q780, with more than 10 simultaneous pulses in the air, results in the best point spacing on the ground. This eliminates the need of terrain following while retaining a high effective rate. Repetitive surveying of inshore waters is becoming more and more essential to evaluate reservoir sedimentation, river degradation, water flow and water level dynamics, structure and zone variations of rivers and riparian areas. This can only be achieved in an effective way by employing high-resolution hydrographic airborne laser scanning.
The VQ-820-G Topo-Hydrographic Airborne Laser Scanner is specifically designed to survey seabeds or ground of rivers or lakes integrated into a Complete Platform for Airborne Scanning, simply installed in any type of aircraft platform, e.g. fixed wing or helicopter.

RIEGL LMS-Q680i

The long-range RIEGL LMS-Q680i airborne laser scanner makes use of a powerful laser source, multiple time around (MTA) processing, and digital full waveform analysis. This combination allows the operation at varying flight altitudes and is therefore ideally suited for aerial survey of complex terrain.

The RIEGL LMS-Q680i gives access to detailed target parameters by digitizing the echo signal online during data acquisition, and subsequent off-line waveform analysis. This method is especially valuable when dealing with difficult tasks, such as canopy height investigation or target classification. Multiple-time-around processing allows the utilization of target echo signals which have been detected out of the unambiguity range between two successive laser pulses.
The operational parameters of the RIEGL LMS-Q680i can be configured to cover a wide field of applications. Comprehensive interface features support smooth integration of the instrument into complete airborne scanning systems.

The instrument makes use of the time-of-flight distance measurement principle of infrared nanosecond pulses. Fast opto-mechanical beam scanning provides absolutely linear, unidirectional and parallel scan lines. The instrument is extremely rugged, therefore ideally suited for the installation on aircraft. Also, it is compact and lightweight enough to be installed in small twin- or single-engine planes, helicopters or UAVs.

The instrument needs only one power supply and GPS timing signals to provide online monitoring data while logging the precisely time-stamped and digitized echo signal data to the rugged accompanying digital data recorders RIEGL DR560, DR560-RD or DR680. These high performance data storage devices are capable of handling the continuous high speed data stream.

The Data Recorder DR680 uses 3 removable drive carriers with integrated 250 GByte Solid State Drives for smooth operation even in harsh environment and at high flying altitudes. These drives are hot-swappable and allow immediate access to data already acquired, ready to be analyzed on the fly or in the office, while the system is still in operation finishing the survey mission. Data rates up to 80 MBytes/sec guarantee uninterruptible storage of data. Additionally an online data integrity check is performed prior to transferring the scan data to the solid state drives.

RIEGL RiCOPTER with VUX-SYS

To use the RiCOPTER for acquisition of high-accuracy, high-resolution laser scan and image data, the UAS is equipped with the RIEGL VUX-SYS, comprising the VUX-1 LiDAR sensor, a IMU/GNSS unit, a control unit, and up to four high-resolution cameras.

The RIEGL VUX-SYS is a complete miniaturized airborne laser scanning system solution of low weight and compact size for flexible use in UAS/UAV/RPAS, helicopter, gyrocopter and ultra-light aircraft installations. RiSCAN PRO is the companion software for RIEGL Terrestrial 3D Laser Scanner Systems. RiSCAN PRO is project orientated, i.e., the entire data acquired during a measurement campaign are organized and stored in RiSCAN PRO’s project structure. These data include scans, fine scans, digital images, GPS data, coordinates of control points and tie points, and all transformation matrices necessary to transform the data of multiple scans into a common well-defined coordinate system.

The RIEGL scan database RiDB is a software package for a database driven workflow to provide RIEGL pointclouds in AVEVA‘s PDMS software. In today‘s lifecycle management of processing facilities, pointclouds have taken over a valuable role for as-built information, which can be used for modeling, clash detection and various other tasks. To increase efficiency in the scan to model process, RIEGL provides a Plugin for AVEVA PDMS to directly connect the RiDB to the PDMS user interface. The pointclouds can be loaded straight into the active Viewport of PDMS, to be used with any existing 3D model of the facility, or to act as a modeling reference.

The software package consists of three components. A database connector provides export functions from the RiSCAN PRO viewport to the RIEGL database RiDB. The RiDB is the central pointcloud storage built upon a SQL database system and comes with a management tool for setup and maintenance. A Plugin for AVEVA PDMS completes the workflow and connects to the database to establish a direct access to the pointclouds in RiDB. Automatically derived cubes provide a testing geometry for rapid clash detection.

The distance and level meter LD90-3-GF is a measuring system consisting of an optical head and a separate electronics box connected by a duplex glass-fiber cable. The optical head can be operated in exposed environments (like high temperature areas), whereas the electronics box can be remotely installed in a protected area.

Series LD90-3-GF

The distance and level meter RIEGL LD90-3-GF with glass-fiber coupled optical head makes use of the time-of-flight method to determine the distance of a remote target by measuring the transit-time between transmission and reception of a short laser pulse.

Distance measurements can be performed to both non-cooperative and cooperative targets with high accuracy, interference immunity, and excellent reliability. The serial interface allows communication and operation of the instrument. Furthermore, the RIEGL LD90-3-GF can be equipped with the various digital and analog data outputs frequently used in industry.
